The 2009 Chevy Aveo: Suprisingly Roomy
With spring in the air I got busy cleaning out my closets last weekend and loaded up about 20 bags and boxes of clothes which included just about everything I had been hanging onto for years ‘just in case’ but never wore. I’m sure you can relate. This week’s test car is a 2009 Chevy Aveo hatchback, which has a suprisingly roomy interior. With vehicular environmental issues of such great concern as well as fluctuating gas prices, this car also has great fuel economy.
After folding down the rear seats, the Aveo handled the large load quite nicely, so off I went to distribute the bags and boxes to the Salvation Army. Access to the cargo space was easy from both the rear doors and hatchback. However, with the Aveo being such a small and relatively inexpensive vehicle, don’t expect the bells and whistles that you might find on a high-end vehicle. The inside is plain but efficient with the basic air conditioning, radio, cup holders, electric windows and steering wheel adjustment. There’s even an arm rest for the driver, which helps a lot to keep your shoulders relaxed on longer drives. And for such a little bugger I was surprised at all the storage space on the doors and console.
The only thing I found challenging was access to the rear hatch. For this particular model I had to use the key to unlock it. The remote didn’t work for releasing the lock however it wasn’t a big deal. I realized that it was probably just me being spoiled from trunk lock buttons being on the key fob in higher end test vehicles.
